Punahou Middle School Wins Top Spot at MATHCOUNTS

Punahou Middle School "mathletes" edged ahead in the Team Round to take first place honors at this past weekend’s 27th annual MATHCOUNTS Oahu Chapter Competition sponsored by Hawaiian Electric Company. The team also earned the "Perpetual Team Trophy" awarded by the Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers (HSPE), the event organizers. More than 200 students from public and private middle schools joined in the competition, and the top seven teams including Punahou Middle School, Washington Middle, Iolani Middle School, Highlands Intermediate, Mililani Middle, Hongwanji Mission and Kaimuki Middle School, will now advance to the MATHCOUNTS Hawaii State Competition on March 6, 2010 at Iolani School.
