Punahou Senior Named 2010 Hawaii’s Junior Miss

Julia Hirata, a senior at Punahou School, was named Hawaii’s Junior Miss (HJM) for 2010 today at the 51st annual HJM scholarship competition held at Kamehameha Schools.

Julia, the daughter of Mari-Jo Hirata and Dean Hirata, won a $4,000 cash scholarship, a trip to the America’s Junior Miss competition in June 2010, the Governor’s trophy, a 4-year scholarship at Hawaii Pacific University, and many other prizes as the program’s winner. Julia also took home an additional $1,500 in cash scholarships as a top winner in Interview and Scholastics. Julia hopes to attend Wellesley College next fall to study law.
