It looks like we had a great crowd in Seattle. From the Seattle Times:
Loading one quarter of the grandstands with its 60-player football squad, pep band, cheerleaders, school staffers, friends and family, Punahou made noise on and off the court as the Buff ‘n’ Blue (think sand and sea) piled up three relatively easy victories Friday in the jamboree-style Emerald City Volleyball Invitational.
Punahou, where Barack Obama was a senior on a boys basketball team that won a Hawaii state title in 1979, recorded 2-0 sweeps over Bellarmine Prep (25-21, 25-17), Central Kitsap (25-12, 25-14) and Eastlake (25-12, 25-11).
Punahou also won this event two years ago, both times while accompanying the school’s football team to Seattle. The Punahou football team faces Central Kitsap at 8 tonight in the Emerald City Kickoff Classic at Qwest Field.
Eastlake coach Gaylene Page acknowledged her team, third in KingCo 4A last year, was overmatched.
“They’re amazing,” Page said of Punahou. “They’re a very skilled, well-coached group of girls. There’s no high-school team in our state that would be at that level. They’re as good as some small colleges.”
